Free hospital funded by the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation

Founded in December 2007 by the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation (DMF), the Biamba Marie Mutombo Hospital is a modern institution offering free care.

Taken in part by several American doctors, this hospital allows the most deprived to have access to care very often out of their reach. With a capacity of more than 150 beds, the hospital has an emergency room, an intensive care unit, a well stocked pharmacy, and a modern radiology department.

The past few years have been marked by a number of accomplishments such as: integration into the national health planning program and designation as a reference hospital; A partnership with Becton Dickinson (BD) under the aegis of the Clinton Global Initiative to create a Center of Excellence on Immune Health and Labor Surveillance; The creation of a pain management clinic to serve patients with chronic pain such as cancer, sickle cell anemia and post-stroke pain; The creation of a USAID program for the hospital-based community and interventions to prevent, identify and treat HIV.
