7 year old South African makes history with her new book

Presenting seven-year-old Michelle Nkamankeng, who has made history by becoming the youngest author from Africa to make it in the top 10 youngest writers in the world.

The South African author, became in 2016, the youngest published author in Africa. She has made history by doing something remarkable at such a young age: writing a book. Indeed, she is the author of “Waiting for the Waves” – a book about hope and self-confidence, and the first part of a series of four. It tells the story of a little girl, Titi, and the journey of her family to the beach. Spending time with her Uncle Joe, encouraged and inspired her to overcome her fears.

Born in South Africa to Cameroonian parents, she had always wanted to inspire young children to follow their dreams. She wrote her first book when she was six years old and she has never been able to stop since then. She is now at her 4th one.

She said she drew her inspiration to write Waiting for the Waves after she visited the beach with her family in South Africa. Seeing the waves rising and falling, she believed that she was encouraged not to fear the waves which are figuratively used to represent life’s difficulties.
