Interview with Maïthé Bizabishaka, founder of Maïsha cosmetics

We had the pleasure to get in touch with Maïthé Bizabishaka, founder of Maïsha Cosmetics, in order to know about her company, learn about her, and give you readers some entrepreneurial advice. Originally from Burundi, Maïthé lives in Québec City, from where she will launch next August, a company offering cosmetic products:

GM: Tell us about the creation of Maïsha, its beginnings, and its purse

The creation of Maïsha started 4 years ago, but to fruit about 2 years ago. At the beginning of my research. I sought to create bodily products such as soap and lotions. Over time, my passion for makeup has grown, and being a part time model, I wondered about the design of these many products which I used regularly. This is how I started my research for the design of cosmetic products and gradually with the help of different consultants, I came to put on MAISHA!

“Maïsha wants to be the solution to your cosmetic problems”

The goal of MAISHA is to be a range close to its customers. I am very active on social media, precisely to allow the clientele to tell me about their expectations, and I think that’s all the  more rewarding for me to know that I am providing them with what they Need. For example, for the choice of the shades of foundation, the choice was made according to different images and requests that had received via my snapchat. MAISHA wants to be the solution to your problems in cosmetics. I want everyone to find his need!

GM: What are the different products currently offered and those to come?

At the company’s launch in August, there will be eye shadows, Eyeliners, three collections of lipsticks, foundations, false eyelashes and two pallets of highlights.

Soon, there will also be mascara, colors that will be added in the different categories and, a collection for skins Dark!

GM: How do you get Maïsha products?

Maïsha products will be available on the website which is already in line. For residents of Quebec City, sales outlets will be announced to enable customers to visit and test the products on the spot.

“Maïsha wants to be the solution to your cosmetic problems

GM: What are your plans for this summer, and next year?

This summer, several exhibition contracts are planned, among others in Québec City and in Montreal. Thereafter, POP-UP Stores will also be organized regularly and in the coming year, we will have activities outside of Canada!

GM: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

Honestly, my wish would be to travel the globe to promote Maïsha. I want Maïsha to become a reference for all, more Especially for dark-skinned customers, because I get a lot of
Requests at this level.

GM: What message for young African entrepreneurs?

When I was preparing my project, a person told me “If you do not do it, you will regret it, and will never know how far it could have gone”. Then in my turn, I pass this message on to you: when something really matter to you, go for it, and in the worst case, if it does not work you will have tried!

I sometimes get messages from young people who want to start a project but often too reluctant to spend money, time, etc. It took me 4 years to get started, and that if someone was able to do it, why not you!
