A Nigerian craftsman creates a car decorated entirely from palm leaves

Using the same raffia fiber that he and other weavers use to make a variety of items (baskets, vases, chairs), Ojo Obaniyi began customizing his Volkswagen pickup by covering the inside and out, Outside the car (from the steering wheel through the wheels to the dashboard) with palm leaves (also known as raffia).

In creating this car, Obaniyi wanted to prove that not only the educated elite can make positive changes in society. According to him, artisans also have the talents required to create change and have a positive impact in society. Moreover, he also wanted to prove to the world the talents of the Africans!
