GoMyCode: Tunisian Yahya Bouhlel wants to train entrepreneurs of tomorrow
Founded by a young Tunisian 20 years old, Yahya Bouhlel, GoMyCode is a Tunisian training school, intended for all those who wish to learn to code, and to set up their own start-up.
Yahya Bouhlel started coding at age 14, and at the age of 16, got the chance to participate in an internship at Silicon Valley. That’s when he discovered young people who, at the age of 14, developed video games, and others, a little older, managing to raise funds reaching millions. This is a wake-up call, because this type of initiative does not exist in Tunisia. He decides on his return from training, to found a school to teach young Tunisians how to code.
GoMyCode is therefore launched in August 2016, and opens in January 2017. The school has been an immediate success. It currently employs 15 people and offers both part-time and full-time courses. The school is open to all enthusiasts, from the age of 8 years.
At GoMyCode, students develop video games, mobile applications, and websites. A learning session costs about 600 dinars ($ 245US), but GoMyCode offers scholarships to support its students. The school also prioritizes girls, in order to feminize the new technologies sector in Tunisia. Today 35% of students in the school are girls.
During their training students also learn how to create their own start-up. GoMyCode is already beginning to establish itself as an incubator of new talent.
