Year of Return 2019: How these top Hollywood stars celebrated New Year in Ghana

Shortly before Christmas, Ghanaian-German actor Boris Kodjoe announced that he would be storming Ghana with some of the world’s biggest black celebrities. Well, he did it, and seeing their pictures on social media, proves they had a blast.

“The “Full Circle Festival” event was established by the Ghanaian Government to honour Ghanaian ancestry by celebrating the country’s heritage and generational legacy”.

“In Washington, D.C., in September 2018, Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo had declared and formally launched the “Year of Return, Ghana 2019” for Africans in the Diaspora, giving fresh impetus to the quest to unite Africans on the continent with their brothers and sisters in the diaspora.” (un.org)

The decision to bring the celebrities to Ghana was just in line with Ghana’s “Year of Return 2019 for diasporans”, which aims to welcome African Americans and the black diaspora to return to the motherland. This trip by the celebrities marks the first main event of “The Year of Return 2019”.

Here are some of the celebrities who visited Ghana with Boris, and what they have been up to during their stay:
