Nigerian scientist creates glasses that identify cancer cells

Nigerian scientist Samuel Achilefu has been awarded the Louis 2014 prize for his glasses that identify and remove cancer cells. Professor of Radiology and Biomedical Engineering, his team developed this technology to be able to treat people with cancer effectively. His research on this device began in 2012, thanks to the financing of $ 2.8 million from the National Institute of Health.

The medical device was first used on humans at the University of Washington School of Medicine, during the month of June 2015. Four patients with breast cancer and more than two dozen patients with melanoma Or liver cancer were operated using Dr. Achilefu's glasses.
